This is somewhat related to the recent pack I worked on just a few days ago. It’s a bit more in depth for those interested. You can’t fit everything you’d like to run-on for under a couple of minutes.
When I was talking to the Life Coach about New Year’s resolutions and being able to keep up with them, she said some really profound things I wanted to share.
The first was this: we need to accept ourselves and love ourselves. We need to be comfortable with who we are. what we do, and how we go about our business. Resolutions are there to help fill in a missing component. We seek to improve ourselves in a number of ways, and so our resolutions vary. But they all come down to self improvement.
The other thing she told me was that living the experience, expecting success in your goals, and seeing it is extremely important because it will help continue to motivate you. I know she mentioned this in the news clip but she did go on a little bit more before the edit. It’s the measure of your goals that you see improvement and continue to be on track. Even one of the people I interviewed said the same thing – reward yourself for your progress, because each stage you reach before the final goal IS success in its own regard.
As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t build in a day”. Only you can see your hard work, sweat, blood (hopefully not), and tears (highly likely). Therefore only you know how much you’ve pained and gone through to get at whatever level you are at with your goals.
The cliche “New Year, New Me” doesn’t have to sound cliche if you actually set out to do things. It won’t be easy, everyone will assure you that. You will fall, you will trip, but, as the Life Coach told me, you need to pick yourself back up and keep moving forward.
Why everyone picks the new year to do this is beyond me. You don’t need any one day, you just need to start ASAP.
Whatever your goals are for the year, for the next 5 years, or whatever length of time, just keep on moving forward. Find creative ways to reach your goal and be honest with yourself. The only person you cheat at the end of the day is you. In the famous words of DJ Khaled, “Don’t play yourself”.
Good luck on your goals, whatever they may be. I wish everyone success and would love to see your progress should you decide to share it.
You got this.
